Debugging memes ↗
For the bug that disappears when you add a log, the missing semicolon, and the fix that somehow works.
Git memes ↗
Branches, merge conflicts, and the very special poetry of a late-night commit message.
Deployment memes ↗
Original deployment memes for release notes, production incidents, and the Friday afternoon temptation.
AI coding memes ↗
For prompt loops, confident completions, and remembering that somebody still has to review the code.
Meetings memes ↗
Standups, scope changes, and the meeting that could have been a well-written issue.
CSS memes ↗
Centering things, unexpected margins, and the browser that has its own creative direction.
A few good questions.
What is CommitCrab?
A small, original library of developer memes with PNG downloads, SVG originals, Markdown copy, a browser article matcher, and a public read-only search API.
Does the article matcher use AI?
It uses deterministic keyword rules. It can match known coding topics, explain the words that matched, and place an image after a relevant paragraph. It does not understand every joke or rewrite your article.
Can I put these memes in a commercial blog?
The original illustrations and captions in the library are offered under CC0 1.0. You can adapt and reuse them. Check the artwork page for the scope.
Is my article uploaded?
The web editor matches in your browser and does not upload article text. The optional public API processes text sent to its match endpoint on the server; see the API documentation and privacy page.
Can an agent search the library?
Yes. The public GET /api/search endpoint returns JSON with original image URLs, alt text, topics, and licenses. There is also a bounded POST /api/match endpoint. See examples.
